The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition containing, as an active ingredient, a Platycodon grandiflorum extract having an increased effective saponin content for treating rheumatoid arthritis, wherein the Platycodon grandiflorum extract of the present invention exhibits a significant effect of treating rheumatoid arthritis. In particular, to minimize damage and side effects in the stomach and to maximize efficacy of the drug at a low dose, enteric coating which specifically coats the drug to allow the drug to be melted and absorbed in the intestine and prevent the drug from being melted in the stomach is conducted and administration is performed. Consequently, the effect of treating rheumatoid arthritis is exhibited. Therefore, the Platycodon grandiflorum extract may be usefully applied for rheumatoid arthritis.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
