The present invention relates to a method for separating methyl ethyl ketone from an azeotropic mixture comprising methyl ethyl ketone and isobutyl aldehyde. The method comprises a step of: a) injecting oxidative gas to an azeotropic mixture comprising methyl ethyl ketone and isobutyl aldehyde, and heat-treating the resultant product; or b) heat-treating the azeotropic mixture while making an oxidizing agent come in contact with the azeotropic mixture. In comparison to a common distillation method, the method of the present invention can efficiently remove isobutyl aldehyde from methyl ethyl ketone through a simple and cost-effective way.
