Means and methods of treatment of malaria, schistosomiasis and cancer using spiro or dispyro 1,2,4-trioxolane are described. Preferred trioxolanes include spiroadamantane groups on one side of the trioxolane group and spirocyclohexyl on the other side of the trioxolane group. Compared with artemisinin semisynthetic derivatives, the compounds according to the present invention have structural simplicity, ease of synthesis, non-toxicity and potent efficacy against malaria parasites. The compound according to the present invention exhibits not only preventive effect but also healing power over malaria even by one time favors. The compounds according to the present invention are also effective against schistosomiasis and cancer.
