The present invention relates to a tipping bucket and weight type automatic checking precipitation gauge, and a method to automatically check the precipitation gauge. According to the present invention, the tipping bucket and the weight type automatic checking precipitation gauge comprises: a water collection container to collect rainwater; a flow speed relief device; a conductive cup; a drain; a control unit outputting a solenoid valve driving signal; a solenoid valve; a data logger receiving a precipitation value measured by the control unit, and transmitting a precipitation supply control signal to the control unit; and a precipitation measurement management server. The present invention comprises: a load cell, where a lower frame having the conductive cup is installed to be fixated to an upper portion; a fixing bracket fixated to one side, wherein the load cell is installed in a base; an axial rod coupled to an upper side of the fixing bracket with a hinge pin; an automatic inspection weight installed to be positioned on an upper portion of the load cell on one side of the axial rod; and a solenoid where an other side of the axial rod and an upper side of an operating rod are connected and fixated to the base, and connected to the control unit.
