A method and an apparatus for multiplying a scalar are disclosed. The scalar multiplication apparatus comprises: an input unit configured to input two different spots, Q (x_1, y_1) and R (x_2, y_2), existing on an elliptic curve; a scalar calculation unit configured to calculate 2R, which is the R multiplied by two, and the R is one of the spots, and calculating Q+R, a sum of the two different spots to conduct scalar multiplication; and a control unit configured to receive the R and the Q and controlling the scalar multiplication. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a stable calculation process and a uniform processing time.
