The depth map coding method for 3D video coding system incorporating extended depth reconstructed neighboring samples is disclosed. Deep blocks are divided into one or more segments. Predicted values for each segment are derived based on the adjacent reconstructed depth sample. Depth reconstructed neighboring samples for at least one of the segments comprises at least one reconstructed samples from the adjacent row or the upper extension extending left adjacent column. Extends adjacent the upper row comprises a second reconfiguration of the at least one upper extension line located adjacent to the upper side of the sample block depth depth depth adjacent to the right side of the current block.
