An emergency generator operating method is provided in the demand response resource system. In this method of operating the generator, the variable cost for the generator operation is calculated, the profit from the generator operation is calculated by referring to the variable cost, and the generator is operated when the profit exceeds the reference amount. Thus, unlike the conventional method of utilizing the demand reaction resource accompanying the inconvenience of the user, the profit can be generated without inconveniencing the user.
