A method for improving the light trapping property of a crystalline silicon solar cell is provided. In one embodiment, the back side of the crystalline silicon solar cell substrate is textured with a pulsed laser beam. The textured back side of the back-contacting solar cell crystal substrate is then annealed to remove damage from the laser texturing process. The rear metallization is then formed on the backside base and emitter regions.
