The present invention relates to a gateway apparatus for supporting an IED having a MODBUS communication function to be connected to an IEC61850 network as a server. The present invention relates to a script editor of the gateway apparatus including a user interface (UI) software being capable of performing data conversion via a script, having a memory space for conversion, having a function of controlling data conversion and packet operations by designating an event ID, directly reading an IED configuration description (ICD) file or a configured IED description (CID) file written in a substation configuration description language (SCL), and being capable of performing reading/writing connection between IEC61850 data and MODBUS data. The UI program includes a script editor supporting script writing and revising in order to perform data type conversion of IEC61850 and MODBUS via a script program. According to the present invention, an additional memory operation to perform the data type conversion from data received from the MODBUS into the IEC61850 data, and a memory operation for data received from the IEC61850 are performed with a conversion work via the script program.
