Provided are TD-based low-complexity image segmentation method and a system thereof. An image segmentation method according to the present invention calculates cost by putting an original image and an updated segment image in a cost function. Filters which show calculators of the cost function are represented with at least one of bilateral and vertical symmetric matrixes. Thereby, high performance and low complexity can be processed with regard to image segmentation such as broadcasting, content production, and medical images.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
