Systems, devices, and methods that use a multi-pattern Viterbi algorithm to jointly decode multiple patterns are disclosed. The exemplary methods may receive a plurality of sets of time-sequential observations for each of the K signal repetitions. Also, each set of signal observations is associated with a respective dimension of a K chronological time grid with time-indexed points. Further, at each of the plurality of time-indexed points, the state cost metric is computed by the processor for each state in the set of states of the HMM. In addition, for each state and a predetermined time-indexed point in the set of states, the calculation of the state cost metric provides the most probable predecessor state and the corresponding most likely predecessor time-indexed point. The exemplary method may also determine a sequence of states using the calculated state cost metric and determine a corresponding cumulative probability measure for the HMM.
