Provided is a gasification method for producing synthetic gas from waste so as to minimize release of environmentally harmful substances. Also, provided is a gasification apparatus. More specifically, provided is a gasification method for producing synthetic gas from waste, which comprises: a first pyrolysis step for producing char from the waste; and a second pyrolysis step for gasifying the char produced from the first pyrolysis step and also gasifying other products excluding the char. The temperature to carry out the second pyrolysis step exceeds a temperature which can decompose either one of dioxin and tar.
