The present invention relates to a method of automatically detecting a collision with a pedestrian based on an image and an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device employing the same. The method comprises: a step of extracting a moving object from an image taken by a surveillance camera; a step of determining whether the extracted moving object is a human or vehicle; a human motion tracking step of producing a vector of human motion between image frames while tracking the human motion if it is determined the moving object is the human; a vehicle motion tracking step of producing a vector of vehicle motion between the image frames while tracking the vehicle motion if it is determined the moving object is the vehicle; a step of detecting whether there is a collision with a pedestrian by using information on the vector of human motion and the vector of vehicle motion; and a step of taking preset follow-up measures if the collision with a pedestrian is detected. According to the method and the IoT device employing the same, it is possible to automatically detect a collision with a pedestrian in a way of giving less load to operations and to support appropriate emergency response by alerting and reporting if the collision with the pedestrian is detected.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
