The retroreflective sheet 10 includes a cube layer 20 having a light-receiving front 30 and a retroreflective backside 32 and a metal layer 22 covering the retroreflective backside. The back surface 32 includes an array of retroreflective elements 34 and a diffuse patch 36 in such an array (without retroreflective element 34). The metal layer 22 covers the retroreflective element 34 and the diffusing patch 36, whereby the diffusing patch 36 scatters the incident light to increase the inter-day luminance to a desired level.;
