The additive according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the swellable polymer microspheres contain at least one of the following: (I) a polymer that is at least one of polyethylene, polypropylene, polymethyl methacrylate, poly-o-chlorostyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyacrylonitrile, polymethacrylonitrile, polystyrene, or copolymers or mixtures thereof; or (II) copolymers of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile, polyacrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile, polyvinylidene chloride and polyacrylonitrile, or vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride, or mixtures thereof. 5. The additive according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the non-swollen, swellable polymer microspheres have an average diameter that is less than or equal to about 100 microns, optionally less than, or equal to about 24 microns, optionally less than, or equal to about 16 μm, optionally less than, or equal to approximately 9 μm. 6.
