FIELD: biotechnologies.;SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method of biological treatment of an area contaminated with a source of U (VI). The method provides for introduction of a donor of electrons into the contaminated area with the purpose to stimulate proliferation of the strain SA-01 Thermus scotoductus to restore uranium (VI). At the same time the specified introduction of the electron donor may be performed either directly into the contaminated area, i.e. the method may be carried out in situ, or prior to this the stage of environmental components removal from the area contaminated with uranium (VI) may be carried out, and then the specified introduction of the donor of electrons may take place, i.e. the method may be carried out ex situ. The specified method is carried out under aerobic conditions at temperature within 55 - 65 °C for the time sufficient for restoration of uranium (VI) to uranium (IV). The specified restoration depends on polypeptide having amino acid sequence SEQ ID No: 1, expressed with the strain SA-01 Thermus scotoductus.;EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide for high extent of restoration of uranium VI to uranium IV.;5 cl, 10 dwg, 1 ex
