FIELD: medicine, pharmaceutics.;SUBSTANCE: presented group of inventions refers to health work. There is presented a method for overcoming resistance to at least one antibiotic in a gram-negative bacterium having multiple drug resistance (MDR), a method for controlling in vitro a site contamination with the MDR gram-negative bacterium, and using an alginate oligomer for overcoming the antibiotic resistance in the MDR gram-negative bacterium. Presented is a product containing the alginate oligomer and antibiotic in the form of a co-formulated drug for separate, simultaneous or sequential use for overcoming the antibiotic resistance in the MDR gram-negative bacterium, wherein the above alginate oligomer has a degree of polymerisation from 2 to 100 and (1) at least 70% of residues of guluronic acid or guluronate (G residues) or (2) at least 70% of residues of mannuronic acid or mannuronate (M residues).;EFFECT: presented group of inventions provides the effective suppression of the multiple drug resistance development in gram-negative bacteria.;18 cl, 12 tbl, 4 ex
