FIELD: petroleum chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petroleum and gas chemistry and concerns process of methane aromatisation. Methane aromatisation catalyst contains, wt.%: molybdenum 2.0-12.0, promoter selected from group of Ru, Rh, Re, 0.1-3.0, zeolite carrier - the rest. Carrier is coarse-crystalline zeolite MFI type with hierarchical system of pores, Si/Al ratio 7.5-30.0, surface area of 352-355 cm2/g, and micropore volume 0.12-0.152 cm3/g in presence of mesopore volume 0.055-0.063 cm3/g, with crystallite size of 1-3 mcm; or fine-crystalline zeolite MFI/MEL type with structure adhesion, silanised outer surface and secondary mesoporosity, with hierarchical system of pores, Si/Al ratio 7.5-30.0, surface area of 352-355 m2/g and micropore volume 0.12-0.152 cm3/g in presence of mesopore volume 0.055-0.063 cm3/g with crystallite size 0.1-0.5 mcm. Solid-phase synthesis of catalyst is performed from described above zeolite carrier and molybdenum oxide powder for 1-4 hours, followed by calcining at 400-600 °C for 4-8 hours. Promoter is introduced into zeolite carrier before or after solid-phase synthesis by impregnation followed by drying and calcination. Conversion of methane is carried out by bringing methane-containing gas in contact with catalyst at 650-800 °C, pressure 0.1-0.5 MPa, volume flow of methane supply 1,000-4,000 h-1.;EFFECT: technical result is high selectivity for desired aromatic hydrocarbons to level of not less than 73,7 %, yield of benzene-toluene-naphthalene fraction per unit volume of processed raw material at least 428 g/m3, and providing stable operation of catalyst for 300 h.;4 cl, 2 tbl, 10 ex
