FIELD: metallurgy.;SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of sponged iron in blast furnace. Gas is heat treated lumps or pellets in area of metallization of shaft furnace with application of reducing gas obtained in gas-oxygen reactor by incomplete combustion of natural gas with oxygen at their careful mixing. Conversion products-converted gas with reducing potential η= 8-10, additionally mixed with return circulating gas purified from oxides and enriched with natural gas, as well as heated to temperature of 700-950 °C in gas heater and fed in counter-flow with charge in lower part of zone of metal coating to achieve degree of restoration of φ= 93-95 %. Post-reduction to degree φ= 95-97 % and cementing with increase to 3-5 % of carbon in sponged iron, including iron carbide Fe3C, is carried out in intermediate zone located between metallisation and cooling zones. In cooling zone in counter flow with obtained spongy iron is cooled and enriched with hydrocarbons in closed cycle recycled gas.;EFFECT: higher quality of sponge iron and reduced specific consumption of reducing gas.;3 cl, 1 dwg
