The current electrical energy consumption of the industrial robot (1) for the current work task is measured, and a stored comparative energy consumption value associated with the work task is retrieved. An indication of the measured current energy consumption and an indication of the comparative energy consumption value is displayed by means of a display device (12, 33), and / or a deviation between the measured current energy consumption and the retrieved comparison energy consumption value is determined, and an indication of the deviation by means of the display device (12, 33).
