The present invention relates to a method for the production of molten aluminum - lithium - alloys for casting a starting material in the form of a block, wherein said method comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a molten first aluminium alloy with a composition a, the free of lithium as purposeful alloying element is, (b) transfer of the first aluminium alloy to an induction melting furnace (c) adding lithium to the first aluminium alloy in the induction melting furnace, in order to provide a molten second aluminium alloy, with a composition b to be obtained, the lithium as comprehensively alloying element has, (d) optionally addition of further alloying elements to the second aluminium alloy, (e) transmission of the second alloy by means of a metal delivery channel from the induction melting furnace to a casting station.
