Process for the conversion of coal into synthesis gas and by-products, such as tar and oil, whereby the coal is separated into a coarse and a fine fraction, the coarse fraction in a fixed bed pressure gasification, the fine fraction in a pyrolysis process, and the resulting tar, oil and naphtha-containing products are combined and mixed.
