The first duration module determines a first duration of at least a portion of fuel combustion in a cylinder of an engine from a first time that a first predetermined percentage of fuel mass in the cylinder is burned to a second time at which a second predetermined percentage of fuel mass is burned. The spark control module controls a spark plug such that a spark timing of the cylinder is adjusted based on the first burn duration.
