A utility model protection is applied for a smart swarm control of energy consumers and producers in a microgrid. Participants in the swarm are transmitters, controllers and actuators. The swarm control is characterized by the following characteristics: 1. A transmitter measures at a suitable point in the energy system a value for the balance between energy supply and demand. 2. From this value, the transmitter generates a signal which is transmitted to all controllers. The signal can be designed as a price for energy, and include further information such as network charges or infrastructure costs. 3. Each controller in the swarm receives this signal, and makes an on or off decision from the signal and local information about the flexibility of its controlled actuators. 4. There is an open loop into which controllers can enter or exit at any time. In the control loop, a (price) signal is sent to all controllers that control their connected actuators on this basis. The return channel in the control loop forms the energy consumption, which in turn is measured and translated into a (price) signal. A communication of the controllers with each other does not take place.
