Sample container (1) for the observation of the photoluminescence of samples, the sample container (1) having a cover (2) and a circumferential side surface (3a, 3b) and an opening (4) for irradiating excitation light and at least one observation window (5, 6 ), wherein the observation window (5, 6) is covered with a filter which is permeable not only for the luminescence radiation but for the excitation light, and the inner surfaces of the sample container 1 are made dark.
