A selective solar thermal absorber adapted to operate at high temperatures in a corrosive environment comprises successively stacked a substrate (4), a selective solar coating (6) configured to absorb a large part of the solar radiation while reissuing the least possible infrared heat radiation at high temperatures when not corroded, and an anti-corrosion barrier layer (8). The anti-corrosion barrier layer (8) is a thick, thermally stable passivation layer having a low optical refractive index and is optically transparent to solar radiation, the thickness being adjusted according to the operating temperature and the efficiency of the third material to prevent the diffusion of constitutive elements of the corrosive environment.
