In order to eliminate image defects produced by high-energy particles passing through an image sensor, with scrolling and signal integration, an upstream detection is performed on the numerical values provided by the pixels of the same rank having successively observed the same stage point. This detection makes it possible to ignore or correct the values resulting from corrupted pixels in the establishment of the digital signal representing the luminance of an observed scene point. The detection is based on calculating the difference between a first digital value pi.a (t1) and a second digital value pi.b (t2) provided by two pixels Pxi, a and Pxi, b having observed the same scene point, subtracting the second value from the first, and comparing it to a predetermined threshold k. If this difference is above the threshold, the first value is too high, we ignore the first value in the summation Σ'i performed to establish the luminance of the scene point, replacing this value by the second value to which it has been compared. In a variant, it is replaced by a mean value; or it is excluded from the calculation.
