The invention relates to a method for estimating the state of health of a battery in a device supplying power to a system, said method comprising the step of voluntarily cutting the power supply to the system from a main power supply source, determining a given power delivered by the battery to the system, and measuring a voltage across the terminals of the battery, restoring the power supply to the system, determining a theoretical total battery discharge time, determining a partial battery discharge curve, and extrapolating said curve in order to deduce a total battery discharge curve and estimating a real total battery discharge time, deducing the state of health of the battery from same.
