The rotor (6) according to the invention is of the axial flow type, and is intended for a rotating electrical machine. The rotor comprises claws (9, 10) arranged around an axial core (17) by plates (13, 14). According to the invention, the claws, the plates and the axial core form a heterogeneous magnetic circuit. According to another feature, the axial core is formed of a first magnetic material having a first relative permeability greater than second relative permeabilities of second magnetic materials forming the claws and trays for the same magnetic field. According to another characteristic, the first magnetic material has a first saturation magnetic induction greater than second saturation magnetic inductions of the second magnetic materials.
