The invention relates to an extrusion system (1) that comprises an extruder unit (10) with a nozzle device (11) for extruding an extrudate (2) in an extrusion direction (15), and a die unit (20) having a die carrier device (21) carrying at least one die component (200) with a profile (50) for receiving the extrudate (2) from the nozzle device (11), wherein the profile (50) of the die component (200) is configured to be positioned temporarily and at least partly in front of the nozzle device (11) of the extruder unit (10), wherein the die carrier device (21) is configured to rotate about a rotation axis (26) intersecting the extrusion direction (15). The invention further relates to a control method for controlling an extrusion system (1), particularly an extrusion system according to the invention, and comprises the steps of: extruding material through a nozzle device (11) in an extrusion direction (15) of an extruder unit (10); receiving the extruded material in a profile (50) of at least one die component (200) of a die carrier device (21) of a die unit (20) positioned temporarily and at least partly in front of the nozzle device (11) of the extruder unit (10); and rotating the die carrier device (21) about a rotation axis (26) intersecting the extrusion direction (15).
