PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a cyanide decomposition bacterium as purification means of cyanide contaminants by acquiring a cyanide decomposition bacterium having high decomposition ability for purifying cyanogen-contaminated soils and groundwater by the bioremediation method, particularly the bio-augmentation method.;SOLUTION: Genomic DNAs were purified from cyanogen contaminated groundwater where cyanide decomposition by microorganisms was confirmed, and 16S rRNA genes were amplified by PCR to analyze sequences. As a result, the presence of a novel Pedobacter bacterium having nitrilase which is a cyanogen hydrolase was confirmed in the groundwater, and when isolating this, excellent cyanide decomposition ability was confirmed. Reacting the novel bacterium having the cyanide decomposition ability with cyanogen contaminants can purify this, and thus we found that above problem can be solved.;SELECTED DRAWING: None;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
