PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a compound that can be provided as a raw material for a branched chain alcohol having a high carbon number by using an enzyme derived from a microorganism.SOLUTION: The present invention identifies methylated cytokinin having activity similar to that of cytokinin such as iP from R.fascians, and finds out that the methylated cytokinin can be bio-synthesized by an isopentenyl transferase encoded by the fas4 gene and two different proteins encoded by two methyltransferase-like genes located upstream of fas4 gene. The present invention also finds out that the two different proteins have enzymatic activities to specifically methylate isopentenyl diphosphate and the use of such activities enable efficient production of a compound to be provided as a raw material of a branched chain alcohol having a high carbon number.SELECTED DRAWING: None
