PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Meteorin protein for treatment of allodynia, hyperalgesia, spontaneous pain, and phantom pain.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a pharmaceutical agent comprising a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from the group of: (i) human Meteorin protein lacking a signal peptide; and (ii) a biologically active sequence variant of the amino acid sequence of the protein. The variant has at least 90% sequence identity with the protein and the biological activity thereof is neurotrophic activity. In a preferred embodiment according to the present invention, the disorder to be treated is allodynia and hyperalgesia, more preferably allodynia, such as hyperthermia and contact allodynia.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
