PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a connection structure of a steel column and an H-shaped beam or I-shaped beam, which prevents flexural capacity of a beam web from decreasing and is excellent in workability, and a connection method of the connection structure.SOLUTION: In a connection structure 1 of a steel column and an H-shaped beam or I-shaped beam according to this invention, a gusset plate 7 is disposed so as to protrude on a fixing side of the H-shaped beam or I-shaped beam on the steel column 3. An end of a beam flange 5a of the H-shaped beam or I-shaped beam and a column face of the steel column 3 are butt-welded and vertical both edges of the gusset plate 7 disposed on the steel column 3 and the beam web surface of the H-shaped beam or I-shaped beam are butt-welded.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
