PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film capable of directionally capturing a short life material included in gas with an inexpensive and simple operation, and a method for detecting the short life material included in the gas captured by the film using an electron spin resonance method.SOLUTION: A film includes a film-like organic compound and a compound dispersed in the organic compound and generating a stable radical. A film base material is a film of an organic polymer compound consisting of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or polyvinyl alcohol-polyvinyl acetic acid copolymer, and the compound generating a stable radical is 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine or (5-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propoxy cyclo phosphoryl)-5-methyl-1-pyrroline N-oxide). The film after being exposed to an atmosphere to be measured is measured by an electron spin resonance method, and a short life material is detected.SELECTED DRAWING: None
