PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of a reduction in number of pumps used for extrusion caused by a low extrusion speed set in order to keep an extrusion product speed equal to or lower than a prescribed speed concerning extrusion of the extrusion produce of a high extrusion speed, and long time needed to increase ram pressure, thus necessitating much time for starting at a prescribed extrusion speed, due to a reduction in absolute amount of hydraulic oil supplied into a ram with the number of pumps set according to the extrusion speed during starting before the start of extrusion.;SOLUTION: This extrusion speed control method for the extrusion press carries out extrusion speed control for operating a plurality of pumps at the starting time of an extrusion speed, detecting ram pressure during a speed starting process until a prescribed extrusion speed is reached, and causes the moving speed of an extrusion stem to reach a prescribed extrusion speed by switching the number of hydraulic pumps to the minimum number of hydraulic pumps equivalent to the prescribed extrusion speed after preset ram pressure is reached.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
