PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and effective multimode storage approach.SOLUTION: The storage system according to the present invention includes a plurality of storage units and a multimode storage management system. The storage units each include a first partition, handled at a basic type of interface, and a second partition, handled at a selective underlying exposure type of interface. The selected underlying aspect of the second partition is exposed. The multimode storage management system includes a controller, which instructs information transmission to the storage units and instructs the activity of the second partition through the selective underlying exposure type of interface and the selected underlying aspect of the second partition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
