PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel π-conjugated compound capable of improving luminous efficiency of an organic electroluminescent element.SOLUTION: The π-conjugated compound is represented by formula (1). (Qto Qare each independently -CH or N; L, Land M are each independently an electron-donating group D or an electron-withdrawing group A; Land Lare each the electron-donating group D and M is the electron-withdrawing group A, or Land Lare each the electron-withdrawing group A and M is the electron-donating group D; the electron-donating group D is a carbazolyl group substituted with one or more substituents; and the one or more substituents are groups selected from a substituted/unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted/unsubstituted alkoxy group, a substituted/unsubstituted silyl group, a substituted/unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted amino group, and a substituted/unsubstituted electron-donating heterocyclic group other than a carbazolyl group.)SELECTED DRAWING: None
