PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of correctly calculating a flying speed of ink droplets with a relatively simple and inexpensive method.;SOLUTION: The times of passage of ink droplets through the vicinity of two detection electrodes 4a, 4b are measured by detecting the voltage induced in the detection electrodes 4a, 4b following the passage of electrified ink droplets in the two detection electrodes 4a, 4b installed along a flying path of ink droplets. The flying speed of ink droplet is calculated on the basis of the difference in the measured times and a distance between the two detection electrodes 4a, 4b.
