PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a columnar bottom sampler capable of easily preventing a sample of deposit, which is stored in a mud sampling pipe, from falling by rotating the mud sampling pipe so as to securely close an opening on a lower side of the mud sampling pipe.;SOLUTION: A columnar bottom sampler 1 for sampling deposit 10 on a bottom of water includes: a cylindrical mud sampling pipe 2; a first cylindrical pipe 3 positioned below the mud sampling pipe 2; first opening/closing means 4 which is positioned between the mud sampling pipe 2 and the first cylindrical pipe 3 and which connects the first cylindrical pipe 3 and the mud sampling pipe 2 in an openable and closable manner; maintenance means 5 for maintaining an opening state of the first opening/closing means 4 when the first cylindrical pipe 3 is inserted into the deposit 10; and rotative force applying means 6 for closing the first opening/closing means 4 by rotating the mud sampling pipe 2 or the first cylindrical pipe 3 in such a state that the mud sampling pipe 2 and the first cylindrical pipe 3 are inserted into the deposit 10.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
