PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which effectively purifies air in a kitchen space, and to provide an air purification device for the refrigerator.SOLUTION: An air purification device for a refrigerator includes: a case 31 attached to an upper surface of a cabinet of a refrigerator installed in a kitchen space and in which a suction port 324 and a discharge port 325 are formed; a fan motor assembly 34 which is provided in the case 31 and forces air flow; a filter assembly 35 which is attached to the interior of the case 31 so as to partition the suction port 324 from the fan motor assembly 34 and purifies suctioned air; a control part which controls driving of the fan motor assembly 34; and a gas sensor which is connected with the control part and senses a harmful gas in the kitchen space. The control part controls operation of the fan motor assembly 34 by sensing of the gas sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
