Peptide dendrimers and agents that can be used to polymerize fibrinogen and as a hemostatic agent are described. Peptide dendrimers include a branched core and a plurality of fibrinogen binding peptides that are individually covalently bonded to the branched core. The branched core is i) 2 to 10 multifunctional amino acid residues, wherein each fibrinogen binding peptide is individually covalently linked to a multifunctional amino acid residue of the branched core; ii) one or more fibrinogen bonds A plurality of multifunctional amino acid residues, wherein the peptide is individually covalently linked to each of at least two adjacent multifunctional amino acid residues of the branched core; iii) two or more fibrinogen binding peptides of the branched core A plurality of multifunctional amino acid residues individually covalently linked to at least one multifunctional amino acid residue; iv) two or more multifunctional amino acid residues are adjacent polyfunctional amino acid residues A plurality of multifunctional amino acid residues covalently linked through the side chain of: or v) one multifunctional amino acid residue, and the fibrinogen binding peptide is a multifunctional amino acid Covalently attached individually to each functional group of the residue.
