The focus adjustment device includes: a storage unit for storing feature value information that represents the point spread function of the lens that changes in accordance with physical relationship between the imaging element and the lens; a frequency analysis unit for analyzing the frequency characteristics of the pair of images; a shift amount calculation unit for calculating a shift amount that corresponds to the phase difference between the pair of images; a conversion information generation unit for generating conversion information used when calculating from a shift amount between the pair of images the drive amount of the lens to a position that is in focus, on the basis of the feature value information and the frequency characteristics of the pair of images; and a drive amount calculation unit for calculating the drive amount of the lens on the basis of the shift amount between the pair of images and the conversion information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
