System and method for maintaining dimmer operation in a power saving lamp assembly

In accordance with the present disclosure, a control circuit is employed to control the delivery of energy from the lamp assembly input to the lamp assembly load. The control circuit transfers a first amount of energy from an input to a load (eg, including one or more light emitting diodes) to control a dimmer that indicates the amount of energy desired by the user to be transferred to the load. According to the settings, the load causes light to be generated outside the lamp assembly. The control circuit also transfers a second amount of energy from the input to the second load such that the second load (eg, including one or more less efficient light emitting diodes) is external to the lamp assembly. It also results in dissipating two amounts of energy, where the second amount of energy includes energy present in the input signal other than the first amount of energy.
