PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a characteristic evaluation method of a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery, in which an evaluation condition can be controlled, and the AC impedance measurement and initial charge/discharge capacity measurement can be concurrently evaluated with stability and good accuracy.SOLUTION: A battery characteristic evaluation method by using a nonaqueous electrolyte coin-type battery with an electrode part having a positive and negative electrode films facing each other through a separator, provided that the positive electrode film includes a positive electrode active material consisting of a Li-Ni composite oxide having a high Ni content and expressed by the general formula, LiNiCoMOcomprises steps of: preparing the nonaqueous electrolyte coin-type battery; performing a constant-current charge/discharge cycle including a constant-current charge, a suspension and then a constant-current discharge to measure an initial charge/discharge capacity after stationarily leaving the battery; and then, going through a suspension time and charging the battery with a constant current and a constant voltage to perform a resistance measurement by an AC impedance method within one hour after the end of the constant-current, constant-voltage charging.SELECTED DRAWING: None
