PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter control device and method for a parent environment vehicle that can improve current control response characteristics (control performance) of a converter even under a low load environment.SOLUTION: A converter control device suddenly adjusts the gradient of a ramp signal used for generating a converter control PWM signal of a parent environment vehicle (adjust to the first value) below the reference duty (current discontinuous mode), and when the reference duty is exceeded (current continuous mode), gently adjusts the gradient (adjust to the second value). The converter control device comprises: a reference current input device 10 that receives an input of a reference current; a ramp signal generator 20 that generates a ramp signal by superposing the input current of the converter, the DC offset for adjusting the gradient of the ramp signal, and the sawtooth wave; and a comparator 30 for generating a PWM signal using the reference current input via the reference current input device and the ramp signal generated by the ramp signal generator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
