The multi-port storage system (160) includes a dynamoelectric machine (EM) having an integral rotor inertia that forms a primary energy storage system. The dynamoelectric machine includes a plurality of stator windings (W1, W2) configured to accept a plurality of AC input power supplies and is configured to supply power to a plurality of loads at different power, frequency and voltage levels. And at least two secondary stator windings (S1, S2). The secondary energy storage system (B1) is coupled to the primary energy storage system and is configured to convert the stored energy into electrical power. The dynamoelectric machine is configured to enhance and buffer the secondary energy storage system and to improve the conversion of stored energy into electrical power. The system may include a step-up transformer (100) responsively coupled to one of the secondary stator windings (S1). The step-up transformer may comprise a single-phase or multi-phase step-up transformer with internal cooling and electrical insulation between secondary windings having hydrofluoroether (HFE) gas and liquid (106).
