In particular, the present invention relates to a humanoid robot capable of investigating its own environment in order to determine when there is a person and to engage in activities with the person in response to the evaluation of the person's request. The robot's operating system processes prioritized activities (gestures, dialogs, etc.) as a function of the current conditions and history of human involvement to process information received by the extractors (sensors and processing functions). As listed, it is configured in the robot to determine which activity should be initiated and to cause the actuator to perform the activity. Robot safeguard conditions are also considered in the list of activities performed.
