Use of pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) for the treatment and prevention of drug-induced gonadal toxicity or uterine toxicity

Methods are provided for carrying out treatment or prevention of drug-induced gonadal toxicity in a subject. Accordingly, provided is a method comprising treating or preventing drug-induced gonadal toxicity by administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF). Also provided is a method comprising determining gonadal function in a subject and administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of PEDF to treat or prevent drug-induced gonadal toxicity. PEDF is also provided for treating or preventing drug-induced gonadal toxicity in a subject. Also provided are cultured cells, media, kits and methods for improving oocyte quality ex vivo.
