The invention provides an apparatus and method for dieing upper and lower casting moulds having moulding boxes. The invention is aimed at allowing an actual confirmation of the state of a joint face between the upper casting mould and the lower casting moulding after a dieing therebetween and also the presence of intervention between a mold core and the upper casting mould and the lower casting mould so as to reduce unqualified upper casting moulds or lower casting moulds having the moulding boxes. The apparatus herein is used for dieing the upper casting mould having the upper moulding box and the lower casting mould having the lower moulding box. The apparatus herein comprises: a lifting means for uplifting and downlifting the upper casting mould having the upper moulding box; an upper moulding box falling off prevention means which is adaptively arranged below the upper moulding box when the upper casting mould having the upper moulding box is situated an uplifting end so as to prevent the falling off of the upper moulding box; and a lower moulding box floating prevention means which is adaptively arranged above the lower moulding box so as to prevent the floating of the lower moulding box.
